I understand that the Stunt Ranch Santa Monica Mountains Reserve (Reserve), administered by the Natural Reserve System of the University of California (University), is in most part and by intent, an undisturbed and rugged area. I understand that the Reserve contains numerous natural conditions and hazards including, but not limited to, steep canyons, and wildlife such as mountain lions, rattlesnakes, and poisonous plants. I also understand that Reserve trails are rugged and may be dangerous and that the Reserve contains the remains of some structures that were destroyed in the 1993 Malibu fire.

I understand that in order for me or my child (children) to be allowed to visit the Reserve, I must give up my rights to hold the University liable for any injury or damage which I or they may suffer while on the Reserve. Knowing this, and in consideration of being allowed to visit the Reserve, I hereby voluntarily assume full responsibility for any and all risk of personal injury or death or property damage suffered by me or my child (children) during my/their visit to the Reserve.

I also hereby voluntarily release the University from any and all liability resulting or arising from my/their visit to the Reserve. I understand and agree that I am releasing not only the University, but also its officers, employees, and independent contractors.

I understand and agree that this agreement will have the effect of releasing, discharging, waiving, and forever giving up my right to bring any and all lawsuits or other actions or demands against the University that I/they may have or have had, whether past, present or future, whether known or unknown, whether anticipated or unanticipated by me, arising from my/their visit to the Reserve. This agreement constitutes a complete release, discharge, and waiver of any and all lawsuits, actions, or demands against the University, its officers, employees, agents, or independent contractors.

I understand and agree that this agreement applies to personal injury, property damage, or death, which I or they may suffer, even if caused by acts or omissions of the University or others.

I understand and agree that this agreement will be binding on me, my spouse, children and any guardian ad litem for such children, my heirs, my assigns, and my personal representatives.

I understand and agree that by signing this agreement, I am agreeing to release, indemnify, and hold the University, its officers, employees, agents, or independent contractors harmless from any and all liability or costs, including attorney’s fees, associated with or arising from my and/or my children’s visits to the Reserve, or by reason of bringing an action at law, or otherwise asserting claims in violation of this agreement. I understand that "indemnify" as used in this agreement, means that I must protect the University from legal consequences.

I agree to comply with all Reserve rules.

I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE AGREEMENT AND THAT I UNDERSTAND THE WORDS AND LANGUAGE IN IT. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POTENTIAL DANGERS THAT I MAY ENCOUNTER WHEN I VISIT THE RESERVE.
